Bret Fausett: "Thank you for establishing
this fund to honor the life of Liz Dengate Thrush. My thoughts
are with
Peter, his family and all the friends
of Liz at InternetNZ."
Vint Cerf: "I had the
exquisite pleasure of meeting Liz Dengate Thrush at Peter's 50th
birthday
party celebrated
during the ICANN meetings in March
2006. Vibrant, witty, beautiful and smart are but pale adjectives to
describe this talented woman. I am grateful to InternetNZ for
offering this thoughtful
and constructive means of expressing what we all feel: that her work
must continue beyond a life too short. For Peter, we can only
offer full and empathetic hearts
and a sure knowledge that Liz has already made a difference in the world.
I value beyond price the brief time I have known Liz and hold
firm in the belief
that the Foundation will follow through on projects so dear to her."
Jordan Carter: "I did
not know Liz well but enjoyed her spark, energy and all round
quality.
To be lost to her
family in such a way is quite shocking.
I just want to do my bit to help."
Jaeyoun Kim: I hope that my
little donation can help the establishment of the foundation."
Bruce Tonkin: "I support
the creation of this foundation as a way of remembering and honouring
the contributions made
by Liz to the Internet community. I also
wish to express my sympathy to Peter Dengate Thrush and his family
at this difficult time. Peter, I hope in future ICANN can
continue
to benefit from
your wise advice."
Janet Mazenier: "Liz was
an inspirational person who lived life out loud - long may her
memory be maintained
via
the Liz Dengate Thrush Foundation."
Jane Mutimear: "My husband and I met Liz on our first trip
to New Zealand a couple of years ago, when we were invited to
Peter & Liz's home for dinner. It was a wonderful evening
and Liz made a lasting impression with us both of such a generous,
warm, fun-loving and intelligent woman that we left feeling
like we had known her for years. I think the creation of a
foundation
is an excellent way to ensure that Liz's vision in this area
lives on."
Frank March and Hilary Pope: "Liz
was a very good friend. This Foundation is a great way
to remember her contribution
to Internetnz. We hope it will
make up in a small way for losing her."
Karl Auerbach: "As
a group and as individuals we are trying to grasp the enormity of
the loss that Peter suffered. We hope
that this small contribution helps ameliorate some small
part of the pain. We hope also that this small contribution,
when
cumulated with the contributions of others, will help launch
this foundation. While not everyone was able to contribute,
I'd like to highlight some of the contributors, in addition
to myself (Karl
Auerbach): Jonathan Weinberg, Milton Mueller, Michael Geist,
Brian Reid, Andy Oram and Bret Fausett."
Karen Cronin, Pamela Meekings-Stewart,
Lani Morris, Virginia Green and Pleasance Hansen: "We met Liz at a 'women and management' course in the late 1980s
- we all had business suits with shoulder pads, careers on the move, and lots
of new ideas. A group of us kept in touch, meeting for dinner and great conversation
for over 15 years. We were all creating new lives combining our jobs, children
and family life, new technologies and new business opportunities - and called
ourselves the "Flying Poppies |
